How We Help

Nobody should be left alone, in the cold, with nothing, when subjected to a disaster.

ProPac, Inc., a disaster supply company, exists to ensure this does not happen. Assisting victims of catastrophes for over 20 years, ProPac provides logistics and supply services to The Salvation Army and other nonprofit organizations as well as state and local emergency management offices.

Operating from a 56,000-square-foot facility in North Charleston, ProPac is a leader, both nationally and internationally, in disaster preparedness. “We support the emergency relief agencies with disaster supplies such as cots, tents, blankets and personal hygiene needs,” says Gordon King, president.

ProPac also builds custom disaster-assistance trailers and containers, which they deliver to national and international clients. These units are filled with cots, blankets, shelter supplies, personal hygiene and survival items as well as first responder support gear. “We work with state, local, and federal disaster officials to determine what the needs are,” says King. “When Katrina hit, most of the cots and blankets you saw in the Astrodome were provided by us.”

With a staff of 18 and over 80 years of combined experience in the industry, ProPac knows what it takes to serve the disaster relief industry. They have the essential products and the work ethic to respond to a call efficiently. “Disaster preparedness and response is the focus of our business. It has been that way since day one. ProPac is extremely conscious of the urgency required when disaster strikes. They are equipped to respond quickly, and depending on the magnitude of the disaster, they can respond within hours. When ProPac is involved, emergency-relief agencies can be confident that they will have everything required to help save lives. “We respond on time, and we get the job done. We’ve built a tremendous trust with our customers.

Know us before you need us.

They know if they call ProPac, it’s going to be done,” says King. With the company tagline, “Know us before you need us,” it’s no surprise that ProPac takes an intimate approach when dealing with customers. “We make personal calls on a lot of our customers and interact with them at trade shows as well,” says King. “We also have a sales force on the road visiting and calling on the agencies.”

Not only does ProPac help victims of catastrophe, they also invest in the community by employing disabled and disadvantaged workers, using sheltered workshops for the assembly of the disaster kits. In fact, ProPac is the tricounty’s largest employer of disabled workers. King explains, “It’s the kind of work that lends itself to be built by the people in sheltered workshops, and it’s a small contribution back to the community.
