HeaterMeals Self-Heating Meals Are Available Through Federal Grant Programs

State and local agencies are utilizing Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) funds to purchase HeaterMeals Self-Heating Meals. The HSGP mandates that states spend at least 25% of these funds for "...law enforcement terrorism prevention-oriented planning, organization, training, exercise, and equipment activities, including those activities which support the development and operation offusion centers." Under that requirement, Agencies and First Responders are using HeaterMeals as part of their training exercises, and for stocking EOCs and Fusion Centers.

As part of the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant, Emergency Management Performance Grants (EMPG) Program, and the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) grant, HeaterMeals are classified as "Critical Emergency Supplies (shelf-stable food products)," and are also covered under, "Allowable Exercise Related Costs."
